The joint venture created by Ampère ElectriCity and Minth will create two assembly lines designed to produce 300,000 battery trays a year from 2026 onwards (the battery tray is a strategic component, which until now has been largely purchased by Renault in Serbia). This new activity, a key element in Renault’s switch to electric vehicles, will help secure jobs at the Ruitz site, reduce the French automaker’s exposure to geostrategic risks, and reinforce its autonomy in an essential link of the electric vehicle value chain. Last but not least, locating a critical, heavy, expensive and bulky electric vehicle component in France, as close as possible to where it is consumed, offers a number of strategic advantages: lower costs, optimized delivery times, reduced carbon impact, etc.
