A successful 4th edition
The International Investment Awards are organised by Nord France Invest every three years, rewarding foreign companies that have recently chosen Hauts-de-France for their investment projects.
Luc Doublet, President, Nord France Invest, underlined the importance of the event which allows foreign subsidiaries to showcase local successes to their parent companies.
A round-up of the ceremony
All 12 nominees for the 4th International Investment Awards were present for the unveiling of the 2021 accolades: Comarch, Laminés Marchands Européens, SIAS, CGI, RS Components, Saverglass, Dickson Constant, Procter&Gamble, WEPA, Horiba France, Brandquad and Technic France.
The Family Business Award goes to SIAS France.
Korean family business, SIAS, completed its initial investment project in Europe during the first COVID wave. Most Korean investment in Europe comes from large international groups, or Chaebols. This pioneering project originated from SIAS, an SME. The award was presented by James Rigby, Managing Director, SCC/Altimance Group and 2018 winner, together with Luc Doublet, President, Nord France Invest.
The Regional Loyalty Award is presented to Saverglass.
The Saverglass group, founded in 1897 in Feuquières (60) and owned since 2016 by leading American private equity firm, The Carlyle Group, manufactures and decorates high quality glass bottles.
To remain competitive, Saverglass regularly invests in its production facility and in 2020 announced a €36 million global investment, creating 100 jobs over the next 3 years.
In Hauts-de-France, the Feuquières and Arques locations boast both manufacturing and decorating sites with a joint workforce of around 1,765 employees.
The 2021 award was presented by François Mazure, Executive Vice-President, MBK Industry and 2018 winner, together with David Brusselle, CEO, Hauts-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Industrial Investment Award goes to Dickson-Constant.
Dickson was founded in 1836 in Dunkirk and joined the American group, Glen Raven, in 1998. Dickson-Constant is now the world leader in technical textiles for the home.
Having acquired a logistics depot in Lesquin in 2012 and built an innovation centre in Wasquehal in 2017, the company launch its second production site in Hordain in 2020. The €17 million investment will create 150 new jobs.
The 2021 award was presented by Welha Ziri, Director, Astra Zeneca Dunkirk and 20218 winner, together with Frédéric Motte, President, REV 3.
The Innovative Investment Award is presented to Horiba France
Founded in 1945, Japanese group, Horiba Ltd, is the world leader in spectroscope and nanoscope production. In 1995, the group acquired French spectrophotometer producer, Dilor, based in Villeneuve d’Ascq (59). The Horiba group capitalised on this acquisition to strengthen its position in France and the region.
In 2020, Horiba joined Eurasanté, Northern France’s healthcare cluster, and developed a new 6,500m2 campus, including an R&D centre. Activities and employees from the Villeneuve d’Ascq location were transferred and today the site boasts a workforce of 100 people.
The award was presented by Frédérique Macarez, President, Saint–Quentin Communauté d’Agglomération and Regional Councillor with Bruno Desprez, Vice-President, Clubster NSL.
