Barilla’s new investment in Hauts-de-France
After an investment of €3.2 million in 2015 for a product specially developed for the Italian market, Barilla is investing €2 million this year for the launch of a new line of organic sandwich bread. The money will be used for innovation and for upgrading the equipment for the new production, including the construction of a storage warehouse, the purchase of new silos, and changes to the packaging machines. Business France and Nord France Invest monitored the project and supported the company’s development in a particularly attractive segment. This investment will also be undertaken with the help of the Hauts-de-France Region and the Valenciennes Metropolitan Community, which is assisting Harrys in its administrative procedures.
The only organic production site for Harrys
In order to meet the new expectations of consumers looking for a healthy, balanced diet, the site started producing lines of organic sandwich bread in June 2018, using 100% “Nature” and “Complete” sandwich bread recipes, as well as the “Complete” American Sandwich bread recipe. It is currently the only Harrys site producing these new recipes, which represent 100% French production. “This investment makes it possible to strengthen the Onnaing production site and makes it the first and only Harrys organic production site,” confirms Miloud Benaouda, President of Barilla Western Europe.
